Now that this story is public, it is clear that this was a major factor in why Joe Biden did not run for President.  If the separation happened by mid-2015, then this story would have been public debate for the whole of the election, along with stories of Hunter Biden's drug problem and his name and personal details being linked to an Ashley Madison account.

There is no way Biden, after the death of his other son, would have wanted his family (including grandkids who are school-age) exposed to that kind of continued, scandalous and intrusive press coverage.

+1 more -- Yeah, I always thought Joe didn't want to run b/c the coke and subsequent Navy discharge would be splashed around everywhere.  Hunter is basically a nice guy in an anodyne way, but really entitled and, at the same time, insecure about his father's esteem for him as compared to Beau.
