Guided reading groups, maybe.  The rest, no.  And I'm not sure that guided reading groups are really that beneficial, given that they necessarily mean that all the other students are doing make-work centers for much of LA.  [/quote]

I have a class of students with DRA levels that range from 12 to 40+. They can't all read the same material. In order to reach all of their needs while teaching the standards there has to be some differentiation. I want to be able to enrich and remediate to meet the needs of all students. Guided reading helps to do that, but with a class of 30 I am not able to cycle through the students with enough frequency. Therefore some of the instructional time reverts back to a "one size fits all" instruction that is not beneficial. I don't think that's best and it is definitely not want my administrators want to see, but it happens due to pure numbers and falling into survival mode.[/quote]
