This slate article articulated my thoughts about Travis well. “But that’s the thing about the “Who, Me?” Guy; because he acts like his power is limited, his responsibilities must be too. No one wriggles out of accountability like the “Who, Me?” Guy, perhaps because he’s already so charming and we’re already so inclined to trust his dimples or freckles or crow’s-feet or whatever else is lulling us into lust. For single women dating men, the “Who, Me?” Guy is everywhere. He’s late for the date (which he didn’t plan), and he forgot your birthday, and he wasn’t flirting with your friend, he was just being friendly! The “Who, Me?” Guy pretends to be intention-free in order for his harms to seem largely accidental.” https://slate.com/life/2025/09/travis-kelce-taylor-swift-glen-powell-jason-momoa-who-me-guy.html
But don't women do this too? try to diminish themselves/be self-deprecating in order to appear non-threatening/to be liked? And it seems to annoy the piss out of people when women do it as well- as they then get pegged as inauthentic- Jennifer Lawrence, Blake Lively, Gwyneth Paltrow, Jennifer Anniston. You can't win. Plus in this guy's case if he were as bad as the examples listed, he'd already have his song/been dumped by Taylor by now.
