But UMBC is #1 public SLAC.
Elite of the Elites: Harvard Yale Princeton Stanford MIT Elites: Columbia UPenn Caltech Chicago Duke Northwestern Dartmouth Brown Cornell Hopkins Berkeley Amherst Williams
No shame in being rejected by all of the above. Stanford doesn’t impress me. I am heartened by all the “mediocre” schools out there ready to take on those unfit for the “elites” of the nation. “Give me your tired, your poor... ... the wretched refuse... Send these, the homeless... to me... This country’s greatness and true genius lies in its diversity.”
You present yourself and trying to lure others to act as victims of institutions that happen to represent the pinnacle of excellence. Your victim mindset fosters resentment and a cycle of despair. Please note that not everyone gets the first place trophy of entrance into an elite institution. Nor does entry into an elite institution guaranty happiness in life [Please do not use "unfit" to describe those that were unable to attend elite institutions as it bolsters this victimhood mindset.] Please note that there are at least 150 good schools in the USA so 2nd place, 3rd place ect persons are still winners and able to achieve their dreams. In fact, there are many examples of folks with zero college that have achieved greatly. Lastly, this is a list of Elite institutions NOT elitists. Of course, there will be some elitists attending elite institutions as well as "mediocre" ones. The admissions process is supposed to be a meritocracy but there are many examples of powerful persons gaining access to elite institutions that otherwise are not qualified. Many of those are relatives of high level officials in the government (e.g. president, VP, senator, governor, ect).
