[/quote] Just saw an interview with the show creator saying that the "greatness" is, in part, a veneer that hides some of his character flaws. As in, he is trying perhaps too hard not to be his alcoholic dad, but that the greatness comes with flaws that only Rebecca gets to see (like jealousy, neediness). It made a lot of sense.[/quote]
