If Jen couldn’t find peace and joy within a church she built literally in her own image and where she was the ultimate insider and leader and even there within those privileged circumstances only found confusion and hurt and “trauma” what chance do any of us have in our churches??
This is why I find all of her “church trauma” word salad to be completely disingenuous. ANC was built from the ground up by the Hatmakers. They decided on the church’s “beliefs” and no one else (as several former members have pointed out on this thread). Jen had no problem with this church and regularly shouted its praises. Until her divorce. Her husband, who was not the senior pastor at the time, cheated on her and they split. Suddenly, Sis declared she couldn’t “do church”. It was too traumatic. Why? Because it was the church they built together and now she was sad. That’s not church hurt. That’s not “trauma from religious systems”. Religious hierarchies are not to blame. Her husband cheated, and that sucks. “THE Church” had nothing to do with it. Also, selling a “destruct your faith” course on Easter Sunday is GROSS.
