Accidents -- terrible, horrible, unforeseeable under reasonable circumstances accidents -- happen. Everyone wants to think that it won't happen to them because they can do X, Y, or Z to prevent it. That's the average person's "therapy" in processing this stuff. I hope the parents' therapy includes understanding that they couldn't do anything to stop it, and that it's not their fault. We all would be kinder and more accurate to acknowledge this. [/quote]
