D3 is an easy way to a full ride and good education.
No athletic scholarships at D3 schools, perhaps you meant full ride academic?
No such thing as a full ride at a D3. Academic scholarships are capped. Many of the top D3s do not even offer Academic Scholarships. All depends on endowments. D2 does have athletic and academic scholarships however their are not many Academic schools. Maybe 10 that are on par with George Mason, UMBC, etc. Even with academic and athletic in D2, still won't be a full ride. The only full rides are your P4 schools and big football/basketball schools outside of P4. Many in P4 don't give full rides either. Anson Dorrance at UNC has always been quoted for saying he never gave any player a full scholarship during his entire tenure. New rules have changed things but DON'T BELIEVE ANYONE who says their DD has gotten a full ride at a mid-major or less D1. Have heard it many times but ends up being a lie to stroke the parents ego. FYI, some public schools use a loop hole to save money and give better offers but it is controversial and looked down upon by others. While a player might be out of state, the University will give in state tuition rather than athletic scholarship. This amounts to a 50% or more cut in tuition. They can then add on Academic and Athletic scholarships to get very close to a full ride. I think private schools cannot use this practice which is why it is controversial and stacks the deck for state schools. I'm not 100% positive on privates though.
