The image of that illegal migrant flipping off every law abiding, tax paying, patriotic American should become an election ad for every Republican.
It stands out because it is very unusual. The vast vast vast majority of immigrants don't and wouldn't behave that way. These are mostly hard working people. I don't know the solution to this problem but lying about who these immigrants are and what they want is not it.
Do you have a sure-fired way of vetting now?
What is a sure fire way of vetting? There are jerks that are born right here that would flip off the cops. That happened because those people are jack asses not because they are migrants.
If a migrant cannot be vetted, he/she should NOT be released into our country. Period. And, this is about way more than the fact that he flipped off the cops. Not only did he arrogantly flip off the cops, but he was one of the gang that assaulted them first. And, some of those arrested had previous arrests. Why have they been allowed to stay in our country - at taxpayers expense - and not be locked up or deported?
In a post 9/11 world, of course those immigrating to the US should be vetted. That is a no-brainer. This being said, we should continue to welcome migrants from ALL parts of the world. Properly vetted immigrants from places such as Liberia, Bangladesh, and Moldova should be welcomed in proportionate numbers along with those that are from countries where it is geographically feasible to come here seeking a better life. Our failures to enact more appropriate immigration policy and our failures to enforce policies that are in place are long standing failures with no single politician or party being on the right side of the issue.
They should be welcomed LEGALLY. The US should be the ones to determine who is welcomed here based on what is best for the US's interests.
No rational person would argue with this. Our laws pertaining to asylum seekers can make for some gray area in this regard but that's just one facet of our immigration system that needs to be updated and properly enforced.
I disagree with you regarding the bolded. There are a plethora of comments here on DCUM condoning the act of entering our country illegally. Perhaps those people are not rational. If they aren't, there are sure a lot of them.
