So here is what I find strange about the whole fat shaming with the trainer incident. Don Saldino is Blake and Ryan’s trainer, and not surprisingly, before the scandal, much of his Instagram was dedicated to the fact that he trained Ryan and Blake. Makes sense, they are extremely famous, so why wouldn’t he capitalize on that? If you go to his Instagram now, it is clear he is trying to diversify, he definitely has some pictures of Ryan and Blake, but not nearly as much as he did pre-scandal. Anyway, he does have a pinned photo of him and Blake, and he addresses very briefly the Baldoni incident in a very vague way. I remember going to his page when all this was breaking, and he addressed the allegations more specifically. He said that Justin was never a client, but he was helping him with a back strengthening program for his back pain, and “after an uncomfortable conversation”, he broke ties with him. That post got a lot of backlash, because if you recall in the letter that Ryan and Blake wrote that they were hoping Justin would release as a public apology, the phrase uncomfortable conversation was also used. People were like, it’s obvious Ryan is writing both of these things. To the trainers credit, if you go to the pinned photo now, he admits that he edited the post. There is no more reference to an uncomfortable conversation. What he says is that he never met Justin, they communicated over email because their schedules didn’t lineup and he put together a back training program for him. The whole thing is just very suspect. It seems like he’s very aligned with Blake and Ryan, not surprisingly. At the end, he even gives this desperate plea about how much he loves Blake and hope she feels the same way or something. It’s just really weird. I’m pretty certain as others have shared, Justin would not disparage Blake to her longtime trainer and friend, who they are very close to, and just start fat shaming Blake over email or phone calls. It’s actually just ridiculous. I’m sure he could’ve more tactfully handled it, maybe he said something about being concerned with lifting her, maybe even how much do you think she’ll weigh at the end of your program with her since she had clearly told him she was trying to get in shape… who knows. It’s highly probable he handled it awkwardly, but to assume his intent was to fat shame Blake to Don Saldino, when it’s clear he was trying to get around his back pain and not just blatantly fat shame Blake….It’s so silly. I can’t even believe we’re talking about it. “Hey Don, thanks so much for helping me with my back! Excited to be working with you! How about that Blake… she really blew up since the last baby huh? I can’t believe how fat she’s gotten! How am I gonna lift that whale amirite? Anyway, thanks again!” does anybody actually believe anything remotely close to that went down?
I cackled at this. Excellent explanation. We are all thinking the same.
