This thread is so unhinged. It was cool when there was some sort of "breaking news", but what are we even arguing about now?
Age guy wants older players (holdbacks in school) to play down against up to 36 month youger players in leagues and events. If Aug birthdays play on their correct grade in school team all players on the field for games are the same grade in school. Which is what college coaches want. If college coaches get what they want theres no reason to play older players down against younger players. This is why age guy is fighting so hard against Aug birthday players playing on the correct grade in school teams.
What club in the DMV allows kids to pick playing up if the club deams there talent not good enough? If you cant show one with this policy, your point is mute. Repost saying someone they want kids playing down 36 months or shut up about your myth.
I've gone through the math with you before but sure I'll explain it again. School cutoff is say Sept 1st. This means Sept 1st and presumably one year younger will all be in a specific grade. if a kid was born on Sept 1st and held back two times which is the max schools allow they will be 36 months older than a kid born on Aug 31st (youngest possible for that grade).
Nice belligerence. Ok, so no clubs allow choosing to play up around here and nobody asking for GY at showcases (except you for Aug kids).
Its called math which is probabaly somehting you're not familiar with.
Playing up could cause a 23 month difference. Probably why DC area teams don't let players choose to play up.
This makes no sense. You're sayjng schools allow kids to be two years advanced in grades? How many kids have you met that skipped a grade? How many have you met that skipped two grades? Even if a kid was to skip a grade it means that now they have to compete with players in that grade if they want to play in college.
Playing up leading to 23 or even 24+ month difference is a club and league concern. See Colorado Rapids. "Physical Safety: We already see significant physical differences within a standard 12-month age gap. If we were to widen that window to 24+ months (as seen in strict grade-based grouping), the physical disparity becomes dangerous. A "held-back" 13-year-old competing against a young 11-year-old in the same grade poses a real safety concern. Developmental Fairness: When age gaps widen beyond 12 months, the disparity in talent and physical maturity widens considerably. Keeping the grouping within the August 1–July 31 window ensures players compete with and against peers of similar physiological, emotional, and social maturity."
Just because you dont understand math doesnt mean we all have to suffer. Leagues have no rules about playing up. Colorado has rules they defined for their club.
