Westfield and South County then got built to help with the crowding at some of the western/southwestern high schools.  And you can see why they moved some kids from Herndon to Langley around this time.   They toyed with the idea of closing Marshall and selling the valuable land near Tysons, but fortunately decided not to do so, which served them well once more residential growth started occurring near Tysons.

Also, for those complaining FCPS shouldn't go ahead with the KAA deal because the enrollment might be small, it's clear that its enrollment would be bigger than the enrollment of several high schools was 20 years ago.   [/quote]

Interesting.  Just shows the need in western area.  Chantilly was one of the very largest schools then--BEFORE Westfield.  And, Chantilly and Westfield are two of the largest schools now.  (WS may be close?)  Centreville has more kids now, but [b]Westfield was built to relieve Chantilly and Centreville[/b].  [/quote]

True.  I had forgotten about that.  However, many of them were not there for long.  They were moved to South Lakes during the 2008 boundary shift.  The number of neighborhoods moved from Oakton still at Westfield is small.  [/quote]
