I’m just about done with the book and what strikes me is a) how much he resents William and b)how little grace he accords to Kate, as he doesn’t seem to see that she’s also in defensive/abuse survivor mode after she was subject to the same things as Meghan and Diana. If she really complains that Meghan was out of line for mentioning her hormones because “we don’t know each other well enough to mention hormones” that poor woman is terrified of opening up to anyone in case someone finds out something. She’s insecure as well.
That's a really interesting idea. I think, no matter how you look at it, there's a lot of dysfunction going on. It'll be interesting to see how Kate's kids turn out. At first glance, they benefit from having 'normal' maternal family members. But, I have to wonder how normal they are if they're so supportive of Kate living in the environment she is and raising kids in it.
Remember all of this is coming from Harry's "truths" and is not necessarily reality. He has it out for Catherine and makes her look bad at every turn. His comment that Catherine was taken aback when Meghan wore fashionably ripped jeans and when she met Catherine for the first time and that Catherine did not full into Meghan's full embrace is along the same lines as the hormone story. Harry seemed to get along with Catherine very well before he brought Meghan into the family, and Meghan seems to have turned Harry against Catherine. What evidence to you have that Catherine is a poor woman who is terrified of opening up to anyone or is insecure, other than the ghost written words of her drug addled brother in law who clearly has an ax to grind with his family. William has often said that Catherine's family has had a good influence on him because he feels comfortable with them. When he, Catherine, and Harry started HeadsTogether for mental health support, William cited Catherine's brother, James, as people who were coping with their mental health issues with family help. It is trendy to glom onto celebrities who blather on about their dysfunctional families and all the trauma and suffering they have endured because of their privileged lives, but on the other side there is a family that is quietly enduring the slings and arrows thrown at them b their miserable family member. Look at the source of the comments rather than a woman who is working in her husband's family business and trying to raise three children who give every evidence of being normal children who will do just fine in life. You might worry more about how your children will turn out given their conspiracy minded parent.
Oh come on! I think most people with an ace to grind would come to different conclusions than you. He wasn’t judging Kate, or criticizing her. He was showing that Megan and Kate were very different people with different styles and approaches. He’s describing why they didn’t immediately gel and where the source of the disconnect was. At no point does he say, Kate’s an idiot/stuck up/hateful because she is more formal than Megan. That’s just your take.
