A rich and powerful man had an affair. Haven’t we seen this story play out thousands of times? I don’t understand why everyone keeps talking about it.
We thought this rich and powerful man was a bit different based on the image he put out there.
I don’t understand why you would believe in the image of a man who’s selling you something. This is like when people get angry at sports stars for acting like other people in their age group. Men have affairs. Teenagers try pot. None of this is earth shattering.
umm, but not all men have affairs - in fact, majority doesnt. and bezos essentially claimed (not in so many words) that he was one of those men who don't have affairs. so people are now judging him for doing a widely despised thing (cheating on his wife of many years + destroying a family of 6) AND pretending to be what he wasn't because that was useful to him. some of the images celebrities project are, in fact, roughly true (perhaps bill gates or warren buffet). even some assholes are true to the image - eg. nobody thought mick jagger was a kind, fatherly figure. people now found bezos put out a lie. and since this is a major figure + there are a lot of embarrassing details people are gonna talk about it.
