I think it is unlikely that the family is involved in this.

It's likely one of these three:

A contractor or worker who has some familiarity with her and her house concocted this plan and maybe they are not following up with the deadlines because she has died and their plan is going south.

The drug cartel or organized crime thought this could be a way to make some money. They might have researched some celebrities who have family members easy for picking.

Someone involved in the Epstein situation (maybe in the admin but not necessarily Trump or even with his knowledge) planned this as a distraction. Again, maybe researched a celebrity who has a family member that would be easy to grab. Or picked Savannah because she has interviewed victims. I don't think the mom is alive and they are doing the ransom/bitcoin stuff to drag out the distraction as long as possible.

No matter what it is of course very sad but let's face it, has also captured national attention.[/quote]
