There is a long history of targeted prosecutions of Republican leaders. Newt Gingrich was cleared many years after his original IRS charges over teaching a class to activists. Tom Delay left the Republican leadership because of bogus money laundering charges. He was acquitted, but it took nearly a decade and an appeal of a conviction. The DA in Austin has gone after other Republicans too like Rick Perry and Greg Abbott. If Ted Cruz had been elected, they probably would have filed charges in Austin against him as well. [/quote]
