My DH is super skinny. He has high cholesterol and he was so surprised himself! I keep telling him, stop eating Mc burger and fries every other day. Stop with 8 Dr. Peppers per day, stop with stupid cherry pie, the cheap kind. As all men... he heard nothing that I was saying. He thinks thin equates to healthy! So, Dr. told him, slightly elevated cholesterol and he decided that he needs to get more skinny! WTF! Average educated, pretty good job guy. Now he is taking it seriously but for years he acted like he was immune to health issues due to crap? Like all men he now decided that he will go to another extreme, no fat for him of any sort. I mean, he slowed down with Dr. Pepper but still, nothing I said registered. I have told him and asked him, would he ever take around 8 teaspoons of sugar in one sitting, as in eat it out of the spoon? They, he seems perfectly ok to have 8 teaspoons of sugar over 6 times per day. And guess what? Our primary provider would not order blood tests for years since it was clear that DH is in "superb" health! Yes, based on his meager weight! His dad eats in the restaurant all the time, I am p who posted that he has Philly Cheesesteak and The Garlic Knot on a weekly rotation! And fancy brownies and cookies every single day. I guess, all is a perspective, DH does eat many meals that are healthy that I cook, yet, he seems to think that Hostess pie and Mc burger ( cause he only gets one burger) and a large Coke (never diet) is no big deal. So, yes, many Americans do not give a crap about what they eat, or imagine that they are ubermensch!
Did he always eat like this? Sounds disgusting. Did he grow up poor?
They ate very healthily growing up. Sure, some canned veggies, which was the norm. His mom cooked all the time. Somewhere in the mid-80s, everything became about fast food and soda, soda, soda... He eats super healthy at home, I cook a ton, all good healthy foods. But, the "snacks" are this. He loves his Mc and his stupid fruit pies. His mom was overweight, his dad is overweight, but not obese. His sister is overweight. His brother has cholesterol, so it is probably genetic too. His mom had major heart issues and died very young, you would think that would scare him... I would like to sign him up for that British show, Supersize vs Superskinny. Honestly, it is a miracle his cholesterol is not through the roof.
