The level of ignorance in the last few pages of this thread is utterly staggering. People taking shots at a DA club with no clue at all.
Please tell us what other standard we should be judging the success of the WSVA program by? Results? I agree that results, alone, are not enough but watching the teams play surely tells a lot. And parking the bus to keep results closer is not really development at these ages. Development? Ok...tell why we should believe that SO MUCH DEVELOPMENT is happening at WSVA. Because posters on here are telling us so? How should we be able to discern that the development at WSVA is steeper than at other DA or ECNL clubs? Furthermore, you can only "develop" up to the potential of the talent. If the talent has low ceilings, the coaching/development can only do so much. Pipeline? There is no real pipeline. Who hear REALLY believes that GFR is really the hotbed of youth soccer as deserving of a partner for USDA club? A USDA club? Come on. How about cost? Too high. How about roster sizes? Way too large for development. No one can really believe that 28 players at training is better than 18. That is asinine. Is a 28 person classroom better than 18? Because that is what developmental training is...a classroom. Finally, coaching. Where is the deep roster of great coaches? Seriously. There are one or two that would be considered good or great. The rest? Come on. So tell us Spirit PR chairman, where is the ignorance? What are we missing?
There is not a DA roster at WSVA with 28 kids on it. You keep saying this but it is not true.
Spirit parents are saying they train with 28. Is this not accurate?
FCV has DPs train on a regular basis with the DA as well. That also pushes them well above 18 on the roster but it is still not accurate to portray Spirit as having 28 kids on the DA roster. It is simply a falsehood. The poster is simply ignorant to the fact that DA's will involve DPs and Spirit is no different. But that does not mean they are on the DA roster. Again, if the PP is so concerned about a ratio of players then the simple solution is to leave and cut that ratio down, that might be the best thing all around.
I just checked with multiple parents in multiple age groups and what you just posted about FCV is not true in the age groups the parents know about. And 28 is a lot more than a couple or a few. That is 10 more than max roster size.
Why don't you just suck it up for the spring and leave. Keep your mouth shut, sit on the sideline, cheer on your daughter and leave with some class and dignity. You have control over your own happiness. I don't know why you even need to have an agenda here, there is a free market and I'm sure your kid can make any number of other teams. Your suffering will soon be over and hopefully you will find soccer heaven. It is time to hand it off to your kid now anyways.
Ok. So since you are in charge of what is acceptable message board fodder, what should we be talking about on a Soccer message board in a thread that involves a major figure leaving a very strong ECNL club and going to a DA? Or should we all stop talking and let this thread go dormant? Let us know please.
But you are not even talking about Larry Best. And not a single person has defended the roster size and everyone is in agreement that it should be trimmed. BUT facts are facts and spouting a DA roster size of 28 is not true. Posts have also tried to explain why the GFR affiliation is simply not at the same level as that of Pipeline in MD. That is also a fact. The reasons probably do revolve around the clubs cut for training fees. But that is also a the point that the affiliation with GFR is not the same as the one Spirit has with Pipeline. But the real issue is that YOU are unhappy. We get it. It is also nothing new. You have been posting the same crap for months and months. You don't need anyone else to validate your feelings. You're the damn dummy who signed up for a program for a second year when you were likely unhappy after the first year. That is on you. Don't go away mad just go away. And if the thread died none of us would.
Correct. I was not talking about Larry Best. But I was responding to other posters posting complete nonsense about Spirit to make themselves feel better - including one poster that claimed that WSVA is catching up or caught up to the other DA and ECNL clubs in the area. With the exception of the oldest group, this is laughable too. But as I said, I hope it happens. Lots of things need fixing before that though. Maybe you should take a look at yourself and ask why you have done the things you have done.
If someone is happy, content or otherwise satisfied it is not your responsibility to convince them otherwise. You are not happy. You are not convinced that the things that WILL make YOU happy will be accomplished. That is all that matters to YOU. But to think that what makes you happy should be the same as everyone else is where you are wrong. So once again, leave the club at seasons end and that is all that should matter to you. Nobody gave a damn why you joined Spirit in the first place and nobody gives a damn why you would leave either.
