Every church has problems, because churches are full of people and people have lots of problems. Even progressive churches have problems. Don't just take some random commenters word for it concerning the Anglican church. They're just one person with an opinion. Do your own investigation.
Yes, but I don't think it's unreasonable to expect that the pastors and other church leadership don't groom and sexually abuse the members and then when found out, cover it up or deny everything.
Of course not. But the notion that dumping the conservative Anglican church for a progressive church is the solution to the issue is completely absurd.
I know “the church hurt me” is trendy. It’s not lost on me that all of this is posted on a Jen Hatmaker board. She’s basically monetizing “church hurt”, and she MADE her own church. But this ain’t it. “I attended a church for years and never knew (because I never asked, and didn’t really care), they were not gay affirming and therefore I’m hurt!” Does not equate to, “That must be why my pastors were murderers and rapists.” What the actual?????
Jen literally built a church in her own image. She and her ex set the tone, defined it's mission, and value statements. She was the queen bee. For her to say that "church hurt her" should be greeted with the biggest eye roll in history. How many people have had such privelidge? It's insane how little self-awareness thsi woman has. Shameless.
Agreed. I remember being absolutely astounded back in 2017 when an acquaintance shared Jen's Good Friday Facebook post in which she compared her being rejected by evangelicals for her switch on gay marriage to Jesus sufferings on the cross, as if the two things were even remotely similar. Talk about narcissistic self-absorption.
