If the victim were white, there’d be a go fund me by now. You guys are such hypocrites.
You just have to bring race into everything? If the victim was white and allegedly he had an ankle bracelet and was acting aggressively toward the shooter (lots of Wootton kids are saying he was planning to jump the shooter with friends), the sentiment would’ve been the same
It wouldn't. Kids get in fist fights at Wootton somewhat often. Under almost any circumstances, the community would rally behind a victim even if there was history between the victim and shooter that didn't involve a weapon. What makes this different? And people need to just stop talking about the ankle monitor. It is unverified and actually makes very little sense.
Victim's identity is not known. How do you "rally" for him?
Well for one, rallying entails not insinuating or outright saying that the victim deserved it, or had it coming. Second, rallying entails a lot more empathy and concern for his health condition, possibly even a collection for medical bills or a gathering in support. You don’t need his name to start any of that. Apparently many people need to know next to nothing about him to smear his name.
Thisssssss. The victim did not SHOOT anyone. He was shot, is in the hospital, with a distraught mother. Bullying can mean a lot of things these days - without more info., we don’t know whether/how he bullied the shooter. But we can all agree that any kind of bullying does not warrant someone getting shot. I honestly believe that if these were two blonde haired, blue eyed students, there would have been a Go Fund Me started Day 1, along with a meal train and no one would have even bothered to look into the victim’s alleged history at the school. Imagine watching your kid suffer in the hospital and everyone online is essentially saying your kid deserved it. You guys are a bunch of savage belly creatures.
NP. Nobody deserves to get shot. But if he was bullying, is he completely absolved of any wrongdoing because he was shot?
That’s not what we are talking about here, plus you have no idea definitively whether the victim ever bullied anyone. Right now, these are all just rumors, and rumors spread by other Wootton kids who CLEARLY do not interact or socialized with either the victim or the shooter. It’s interesting that none of the students spreading alot of these rumors can tell us anything personal about these kids - i.e., we hung out before, were at each other’s houses, texted all the time, etc. - NONE. Because they don’t KNOW either one of these kids, so they don’t actually know if there was any bullying. The only factual thing we know is that the victim, a kid, was shot.
And conveniently FERPA makes it such tha parents have no way of knowing who their kids are going to school with and students who are victims have no Justice. But let’s make sure no one gets unfairly labeled .
I can't tell if this is sarcastic or now. But truly this is the point- let's make sure that no student gets unfairly labeled...particularly the victim.
DO. And if it is true that he bullied the shooter, what punishment should be imposed? Should he be absolved of that - even if such bullying contributed to the situation (or was the catalyst)? Would you say the same thing if it was a woman who shot her abuser?
