[twitter]https://x.com/dccrimefacts/status/1804225992829079710[/twitter] Here's another preventable murder in DC. This suspect was previously arrested for Armed Robbery (Gun). But the USAO reduced the charges to just misdemeanors so he was released pretrial. Now he's accused of murder. The USAO faces no accountability for these preventable deaths.
None of these charges have been proven.
Oh, please. When one considers the number of cases that are never prosecuted or resolved with a lenient plea, the criminal cases they take to trial in DC are the most guilty if the guilty. Lock them up!
Prosecutors can only charge defendants with crimes they believe they can reasonably get a guilty verdict on. The actual blame needs to be laid on MPD whose sloppy evidence collection procedures and legally questionable tactics make it nearly impossible to bring charges that will stick, and that's if they even arrest anyone to begin with, which they are not interested in doing as juvenile retaliation for the "defunding" that never even happened. Republicans want to lay the blame for crime at the feet of Democratic politicians (because of course they do) but the real problem stems from right-wing police who refuse to do their jobs to spite the liberals whose taxes fund their department and whose leaders sign their checks, and whose racist attitudes end up letting go more criminals than they catch because they can't help themselves from violating the civil rights of suspects on the rare occasions they actually do leave their cruisers.
