I don't think anyone is even arguing that she isn't a great lyricist, but there ARE a few people arguing that she has no contemporaries. Or that her music and lyrics are as poetically virtuosic as, you know, actual poets or even some extremely gifted contemporary lyricists working in genres other than pop. At some point someone said that it's likely a lot of Swift's most fervent fans don't have a lot of exposure to other great lyricists or writers, because most of Swift's biggest fans probably most listen to pop music. Which leads to some hyperbole about Swift's abilities. I can't remember if it was this thread or another one, but early on someone said she was going to win a Nobel Prize for Literature, like Bob Dylan. That's the kind of hyperbole people are referring to.[/quote]
