I thought Steven's answers on the SEPTA questionnaire were surprisingly nuanced and informed.
Ha! I'm not that surprised. He strikes me as very intelligent and even (mostly) well intentioned. I just think he hasn't run a strong campaign (the emails thing has been a little weird and he seems a little out of touch). I also really don't like that he thinks one of his big selling points is that he has the youngest kids. Btw, did anyone catch it the other night at the ATS/Key forum when Priddy tried to claim that he's the only one with black children and, therefore, the only one who can understand some of those issues? Wonder what Symone thought of that argument?
I didn't hear Priddy say that. In fact, I've never heard him refer to the racial make-up of his family at all. He did say he's the only one with kids in elementary and middle school, I think.
NP poster: I've heard him say at least 2 or 3 times that he is the only one with children of color, including at the Dems School Board debate. It frustrates me that he and Krieger are using these "Breakfast Club" type of designations. Yes, Krieger may have the youngest kids and Priddy is the only one in the Dem School Board caucus with children of color. Ok. But, Sandy is the only one with grandchildren. Cristina is the only one without children. Terron is the only one with stepchildren and the only one with (step)kids in high school. (And, btw, Terron's wife and I have mutual friends and she's apparently pretty open about her son being openly gay, so maybe Terron is the only one with a LGBTQ child). But what does any of that really matter? While parenting gives people a different perspective on school issues, I don't think it should be a qualifying or disqualifying attribute.
