Is it worth directly challenging a component of the GBRS or is that viewed negatively in the appeal? DS got a 2 in "exceptional ability to learn" (3s in the other categories) and I have several examples of strong ability to learn .... not to mention his report card is all 4s with him putting in the bare minimum of effort. I think the teachers ranked him low on that measure because he's easily distracted, especially when bored.
I am in the same boat. Her teacher and the AAP teacher, said my DD was capable but not interested because she did not ask for work. The AAP teacher was very busy during the time for submitting work to get into the GT program. They did not help her at all. I wish to write a little about this in my letter, but not sure if it will be looked on negatively in the appeal. The AAP mentioned my son also displayed the same lack of interest. He got in from his test scores just being 3% higher and is thriving. Thank you all again.
