^ was he acting with the guy in the video ?
It doesn’t sound like they are ruling out the possibility, based on the latest statement. They just don’t have any evidence indicating that the shooter didn’t act alone. The guns in the hotel room is strange, but they didn’t match the casings at the scene.
But his cell phone pinged at the building at time of shooting. That’s what led FBI to the hotel.
Where did they get his cell phone number?
FBI tools. https://x.com/FBIDirectorKash/status/2000244040667676940?s=20
Lots of words but not seeing an explanation of HOW they focused on him. A gazillion cell phones pinged at that building at the time of the shooting.
I'm someone who posted a few times yesterday, saying I just felt there was something off/suspicious about that earlier POI - the one who was released. There were details that just didn't add up for me, but I have learned a few things. First off, I had read about the police identifying possible suspects by using the cell phone information - but we don't actually know that was part of the reason they looked at that initial POI. It might not have been cell phones - it could well have been just a tip from someone at his hotel. Second, I found it very odd that a young man his age, no job, some kind of Brown connection (on his LinkedIn), was just staying in a hotel in Rhode Island with firearms. I was imagining he was on a trip, visiting.. who brings a rifle with a laser sight on a trip like that? It just seemed quite off. But if you actually have moved to a hotel because you are living in it for a period of time, (i.e. your apartment flooded and you are moving to a new area to study) and that's your current housing situation, and you happen to have firearms, then yes, you bring them with you and store them in your domicile. So if that's the situation, then that is less suspicious. Third, I'm a Brown grad and I felt it was odd that someone with a military background (as per his LinkedIn) would a) be interested in Brown as a transfer student b) have all those do gooder/volunteer activities listed. And his academic background just didn't seem very competitive for Brown's admission. However, what I had no idea about, is that Brown has been actively encouraging older, non-traditional students to apply for resumed education as transfer students, and they have particularly been reaching out to vets. It's a great program, and it seems like the individual who was initially a POI would have exactly the type of background and interests that they'd be looking for. https://www.brown.edu/news/2019-11-11/veterans If he had applied to this program, and been accepted for the Spring Semester, say, I think he might be enrolled as a "special student" and therefore not necessarily on the usual rosters that people might check when asked if he were a student. It's quite believable actually. I'm sorry this individual was caught up in suspicion and I hope his name isn't spread around any longer.
