One 22 year old candidate claims he "has spent the last six years in work on issues related to students and schools." This candidate does not say, "Hey, I graduated from college a year ago, thus have limited work experience." This same candidate also says his "involvement in our community dates back nearly a decade to 2014." He does not say, "I moved here less than 6 months ago." These things are actual facts which raise significant questions about his integrity, not people simply gossiping online. And, for this matter, if he's employing these kind of Santos-style resume tactics, how do we know he's not secretly a Republican? Has anyone asked him who he's voted for? Why hasn't he responded yet? (Do you see how ridiculous this is?)
Deflection. At least we know where he stands on Youngkin and MAGAs.
Actually, it's not deflection at all. This is a fact-based point about why I could never support Angelo. His qualifications are paper thin to the point of being see-through. In contrast, your concerns about Miranda are based on conjecture and wild speculation.
She and her supporters of whom there are clearly many on there could quickly and easily quiet the conjecture by stating who she voted for in the last gubernatorial election. But they have not done so. That leads me to believe she's hiding something so we're entitled to assume the worst. This is all within her control. Kind of like Trump not disclosing his tax returns.
Who did Angelo vote for? Do you know? (Actually, we do know somewhat, because Angelo has not lived in Virginia yet during an election cycle.) I can't speak for Miranda because I am not Miranda. The reason no one is answering for her is because IN THE US WE HAVE PRIVATE BALLOTS. I would be surprised if she voted for Youngkin. But, as PP above said, if you want to know the answer to that, you have to ask Miranda, who, I know for a fact, intentionally does not follow stuff like this because, sheesh, who would?

Angelo has very clearly stated he will stand up for Arlingtonians against MAGAs. Miranda has not.
What does that even mean???! This is some real LWNJ bs. Come on. You really think MAGA is actively trying to infiltrate APS via one school board candidate? Get a grip....I honestly cannot even take that seriously, really. This is an assertion of delusion.
I don't want a Youngkin voter who surrounds themself with MAGAs.
Exactly. I'm not the PP but I also don't want a Youngkin voter whose base is all MAGAs. Does that make me a LWNJ to the Miranda camp?
The better question might be why you keep saying that a) she’s a youngkin voter and b) who voter base is “all maga”. Please help me to help you and just ask her who she voted for. And then go look at all of the Democrats who are not just supporting her, but endorsing her.
She could clear this up easily but she has not.
Where has she not cleared this up exactly? On DCUM????? Please specify. You're not going to troll click bait someone who has more than air between their ears to show up on demand to any old random website to make you feel special/heard/validated. She has said it a million different ways on a million different days. If you don't want to hear it, that's your problem, not hers. But, I digress, you can't argue with crazy, so, I'm out.
What do you mean she's said it a million different times? I have never seen Miranda say who she voted for in the gov election. If she did and I missed it, please post it.
I like what Angelo says about this. From his website: And let me be clear: the future of Arlington is at stake. We have seen our community and progressive education values come under attack from our MAGA, anti-education governor. He's just dead wrong. I'll stand up to him, and stand up for Arlington instead. We've even seen divisiveness, rancor, and a breakdown of trust on school issues in our very own community. We need to bring people together, not pit parents against teachers against students. I am running to invite everybody to the table. https://www.angeloforarlington.com/about
Also from his website: "Since 2021, I've been engaged with the work of the Arlington Democratic Committee, serving as Deputy Communications Director until 2023. Now, I am putting my background as a Certified Personal Trainer and Certified Nutrition Coach to work as a member of the APS School Health Advisory Board and the County's Food Security Coalition. I'm also a member of the Arlington Rotary Club and its Youth Committee and the Radnor-Ft. Meyer Heights (RAFOM) Civic Association, among others." Also from his website: "The place is here and the time is now for a generational change in perspective at the table. It is my combination of lived experience, school policy chops, and vision that makes me the right candidate to meet this moment." Someone please unpack for me what he means or is supposed to be conveyed by his, "school policy chops". If someone thinks this child is qualified to sit at the table and help run APS, God help us all.
And yet he has enough wherewithal to know we need local pols who will stand up to Youngkin. And Miranda does not.
How exactly do you envision Angelo standing up to Youngkin? Is APS currently in a direct battle with Youngkin that I am unaware of? What we need is someone who can read a budget, who can ask smart questions, and who knows something about APS, including its strengths and its weaknesses. Not someone whose connection to this area is so tenuous he has to cite having visited Arlington at 13 as evidence of his community commitment. Please.
Our school board should stand up to whatever BS Youngkin tries to pull. For example: https://www.newsweek.com/seven-virginia-school-boards-lawsuit-glenn-youngkin-mask-order-1672523?amp=1 Would Miranda vote to file that lawsuit?
That lawsuit was pointless theater. Not the best example of a good use of school resources.
Banning mask mandates takes away a community’s ability to make the best choices for its constituents. The SB was standing up for our community against a RWNJ trying to score points with his irrational base.
+1000. Sure would have liked 2 weeks of mask in school when my kids' school had an outbreak and half the teachers and kids were out and there weren't enough subs. But we can't, thanks to the MAGAs/APEs.
IIRC that that was the result of the one-two punch of the Virginia legislature and the CDC.
Oh please so now you want to pretend this wasn't driven by the Republicans in Richmond? At least own your actions.
