What does people think of this one? The address on F, but it’s on a corner with Maryland Ave. The price isn’t out of line with that amount of space in Capitol Hill, but Maryland is kind of busy and the interior is...well, it’s a statement. I’m curious whether this will go for asking. $1,100,000: 3BR/2.5BA, 2092 sf: https://www.redfin.com/DC/Washington/1201-F-St-NE-20002/home/9910413
I actually love the interior and love that they went bold with paint and wallpaper. I wouldn't keep every last bit of it, but I think it's great they went for it because people are amazingly conservative about home decor in this area and I'm so bored with what I usually see. I also think they do a good job of showing how to make the most of a somewhat weird layout, which is really helpful for an angled lot like this. That said, I wouldn't want to live on that corner. We live on 12th (closer to H) and walk this area a lot. While Maryland isn't really that bad (I prefer it to some of the other busy streets in the neighborhood, including H, 8th, and Florida), the way this house sits on the corner is just extremely exposed and you are going to get a lot of foot traffic on both sides. And the outdoor space you have is just not private at all, not even that little "back" patio because it's still right on the street. I guess you could do planter boxes or something but I just don't think if you value privacy that this is a good house for you. Again, I don't think it's an issue with Maryland Ave, which I would definitely consider living on because it has a much quieter, more neighborhood feel than other busy streets in the neighborhood, due to deep yards and wide sidewalks. It's this specific house, or just these angled corner houses in general. I think most were designed to operate as commercial properties (corner stores and such) and I just don't think they work well as residences.
