She is probably having a mental breakdown with fear of the pandemic, hence why she got the dog, probably for protection. I had friends in NYC, PTSD is a thing, nonstop ambuolances, the refrigerated morgues on the street. I mean, she is vile, don’t get me wrong, the gentleman was so measured, but clearly she was unhinged.
He was setting her up for this to happen and wanted his 5 minutes of fame which he got. There was no reason to record her. There was no reason to provoke her. She may have been raped or attacked in the past which caused her to panic. Both were wrong.
Really - that is your takeaway?
She wasn't near anyone in an open area. He pulled out his phone to yell at her and provke a reaction that he could post on social media.
This. And creepy that he had dog treats but no dog.
No it is not. He's been to that area many times before to birdwatch. He knows that there are many irresponsible dog owners who believe that the rules don't apply to them and they bring their dogs unleashed into the area despite the written signs that dictate the law. The problem is that the dogs roam through the nesting area of some of the ground birds and scare the birds away. And that is because the irresponsible dog owners don't have control of their pets. But, all it takes is someone offering a dog treat for dog owners to do exactly what the racist woman did, they either grab their dogs by the collar or they put their dogs on leashes or they leave the area. In other words, it forces the dog owners to take control of their pets. So, first he asks them politely to leash their dog. If they don't, he takes out the dog treats which makes most dog owners take control of their pet. And it is far more kind to the animal than spraying it with pepper spray. And instead of just taking control of her pet, she then decides that she's going to make him pay for that and she endangers his life by committing yet another crime, this time one of slander by making a patently false police report. She got what she deserved losing her dog and her job. She'll be lucky if that's all it costs her for being such a reprehensible creature.
He does not own the property. He cannot dictate or control others actions. It is not his job to police. It is the police who should and he could have called them. The dog is allowed to play in the park. The dog has just as much right to enjoy the park as he does and I don't even like dogs. He has absolutely NO RIGHT to feed a dog that does not belong to him. It is very threatening to have a stranger approach you and try to take control of your dog and give them food. How does she know the food isn't poisoned? He and the woman who posted the video should equally have consequences. The dog was not bothering him or attacking him. So, if a stranger walked up to your child and offered them treats, would you be ok with that? If it were a child, we'd worry he was a kidnapper.
We get it. The black man forgot his place, you racist POS. He didn't walk up to anyone. She walked up to him. And if your dog is off leash and I feel like you don't have control, I'm going to do worse than give it a treat. I'm more of a kicker.
Don’t go to Lincoln Park. It’s all entitled white jerks and their dangerous off leash dogs. I call the National park service to report unleashed dogs every time my kids have been snapped at by a dog (if I called them every time I saw an off leash dog I’d have to call every day!). No one ever shows up. There are numerous clear signs that say leash your dog. There is a dog run nearby where they can be off leash. But every single time we ask people to leash their dogs we get shouted at or ignored. I like this man’s idea to keep dog treats in your pocket but given the posters on this forum I’m sure they’d come at me the same way that this poor gentleman has been attacked. Just LEASH YOUR DOG.
As someone who has called the police on people with off leash dogs after one knocked my kid off his bike, it's not remotely effective. The police either take forever or don't show, and if they do, the offender is long gone. But offering the dog a treat to demonstrate to these idiots how doing this could be bad for them (because that's all these people understand) is really smart. Someone could do that and take your dog. Someone could do that and poison your dog. Fact is, when your dog is off leash, anything could happen, and you are not in control. LEASH YOUR DOG. If not for everyone else's sake, maybe for your own?
