A compromise means two or more parties give a little to reach an agreement.   The term you are looking for is "sacrifice."

Please take that malarkey to the real estate forum. We are discussing Arlington Public Schools. Families are guaranteed an education in APS when they move to Arlington, nothing more.[/quote]
