It's obvious Steele is some broken down failure as an MI 6 agent if he ever was really that who is playing on that reputation as public relations to get clients. He's got a two man operation, for christ sake, working out of a condo or something. The over inflated description of the services he claims to provide is like Robert Ludlum wrote it. Who is this guy, Kroll? I don't think so. I think Steele is a failed MI6 agent who, to make a living, is a small time scammer. Every now and then he gets a "live" client who doesn't really want the truth, just wants some smear material with plausible deniability, whether it's true or false or totally fabricated doesn't matter. Nothing Steele has ever done has gotten anywhere this much attention and heat, so now he's panicked and "gone to ground." He finally scammed and scammed and scammed and now has to answer for it, and can't. The claim that he fears for his life is ludicrous.
The available evidence suggests exactly the opposite of what you are saying. He apparently had a very good record in MI6. He was also very important in the FIFA investigation and, as a result, established his credibility with the FBI.
OR this: https://www.theguardian.com/us-news/2017/jan/12/intelligence-sources-vouch-credibility-donald-trump-russia-dossier-author "One described him as “very credible” – a sober, cautious and meticulous professional with a formidable record...The former Foreign Office official, who has known Steele for 25 years and considers him a friend, said: “The idea his work is fake or a cowboy operation is false – completely untrue. Chris is an experienced and highly regarded professional. He’s not the sort of person who will simply pass on gossip.” The official added: “If he puts something in a report, he believes there’s sufficient credibility in it for it to be worth considering. Chris is a very straight guy. He could not have survived in the job he was in if he had been prone to flights of fancy or doing things in an ill-considered way.” That is the way the CIA and the FBI, not to mention the British government, regarded him, too. It’s not hard to see why. A Cambridge graduate, Steele was one of the more eminent Russia specialists for the Secret Intelligence Service (MI6). The Guardian understands that he focused on Soviet affairs after joining the agency, and spent two years living in Moscow in the early 1990s...."
Or this from the Telegraph: http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/2017/01/12/christopher-steelethe-former-british-spy-created-donald-trump/ Which says he's a Liverpool U grad! Anyway, the reporting here suffers from the public's hunger for information, the shadowy nature of intel, reporters lack of deep subject knowledge, and I'm guessing the commonality of the name Steele. Who knows!
So, he has one degree from Cambridge and one from Liverpool. That makes him unqualified? What is the shadowy nature of the intel? Aren't all intel "shadowy" - it's inherent in spying. Reporter doesn't require deep knowledge of what's in the dossier since the FBI has it.
My only point is that the reporting here isn't exactly upping my faith in any source.
