The available evidence suggests exactly the opposite of what you are saying. He apparently had a very good record in MI6. He was also very important in the FIFA investigation and, as a result, established his credibility with the FBI.

Which says he's a Liverpool U grad! Anyway, the reporting here suffers from the public's hunger for information, the shadowy nature of intel, reporters lack of deep subject knowledge, and I'm guessing the commonality of the name Steele.

So, he has one degree from Cambridge and one from Liverpool. That makes him unqualified?  What is the shadowy nature of the intel?  Aren't all intel "shadowy" - it's inherent in spying.  Reporter doesn't require deep knowledge of what's in the dossier since the FBI has it.[/quote]
