11. Langley
The Langley Saxons enter 2026 as the highest ranked public school in the DMV and our favorite to win the Virginia 6A State Championship. As they look to repeat as Regional Champs & make a run at a state title, here is what you need to know about the Saxons in the coming spring. The Saxons are headlined by a pair of Division 1 bound seniors in Jack Milone (Mercer) and Cole Samburg (Delaware) both of whom eclipsed 100 points last season. Milone is a righty sharpshooting attackman who quarterbacks the offense, while Samburg is a do it all midfielder with ridiculous speed. Another guy to keep an eye out for on the offensive end of the field is Kevin Mahoney, an All-District attackman last spring. Defensively, Langley is anchored by one of the best young netminders in the area in Luke Milone, Jack’s younger brother, an extremely athletic sophomore goalie capable of making spectacular saves. The other guy to keep an eye out for on the defensive end is Ellington Roane, a senior defenseman who earned All-Region honors last spring. The true caliber of this Langley team will be tested early as they face off against defending WCAC Champions DeMatha in an intriguing out of conference tilt.

12. Independence
Coming off of their first 5A Virginia State Championship in school history, Independence will have high expectations for the 2026 season; however, they will be transitioning from Virginia’s 5A class to 6A, where the competition is way more fierce. With that said, the Tigers return a bulk of their State Championship team and add arguably the most impactful transfer in the DMV, in the form of Tyler Elgas, a bruising defenseman bound for Vermont. Elgas will anchor an excellent defense, composed of Owen Groszkowski, Luke Kwitkiwski, and LSM Brady Peterson, a group that will be physically imposing and likes to lay the lumber. On the offensive end of the field, a pair of Roanoke bound seniors lead the way in the form of Cooper Woodring and Marino Yozzi. Woodring, who quarterbacks the offense, was a First Team All-State selection last spring while amassing 103 points, while the incredibly speedy Yozzi tallied an impressive 52 assists. Other guys to watch include 6’5 attackman Declan Carter and offball finisher Trent Stewart. While they may be new to the 6A, we expect Independence to hit the ground running and instantly compete for a Regional and State Title.

14. Robinson
The expectations for Robinson lacrosse each spring are pretty simple: Win a State Championship, a feat they have accomplished a ridiculous 13 times, establishing themselves as the preeminent public school in the DMV. The challenge for Robinson this spring will be offensive production as they are forced to replace Conner Fructuoso (York), a 1st Team All-Region selection who led them in scoring the past two seasons. Look for do it all midfielder Thomas Agents to not only lead the way offensively, but also take a decent amount of faceoffs as well. Agents, who is also bound to play at York, played with Team Mexico u20 in the World Games. Look for Dylan Carbaugh to be impactful on the offensive end as well. The strength of this Robinson team will be their exceptional defense, led by senior Penn State commit Peyton Larsen, who was named 1st Team All-Region and 3rd Team All-DMV last spring. Larsen will be joined by a pair of fellow seniors also bound to play collegiately in Sam Readyhough (Lynchburg) and William Vickers (Brockport), with long stick midfielder Nathan Frazer (Lynchburg) rounding out an exceptional defensive unit.

16. Madison 
Madison has emerged as one of the premier public programs in the DMV, winning a State Title in 2019 and following it up with back to back State Championships in ‘22 and ‘23, largely thanks to excellent coaching from HC Aaron Solomon. This year the Warhawks have their eyes set on another ring, and in order to prepare for a playoff run, play the toughest schedule by far of any public school in the DMV, that includes contests with powerhouses Landon and St. Anne’s Belfield. The biggest challenge for Coach Solomon this spring will be replacing 18 seniors, including 7 starters from last year’s District Championship team. The standouts on this Warhawk squad include Nico Williamson (Lynchburg) a dynamic sharpshooting lefty who can take over games, Hayes Murphy, a lefty defensemen bound for Mary Washington who plays mean and has an excellent stick, and LSM Cooper Williams a 1st Team All-District selection last spring. Other players to keep an eye out for include senior attackman Gray Byrne and Vito Leone, and sophomore defensemen Brendan Levay. [/quote]
