I have white friends who moved to the US from South Africa when they were older than him. They did not have the chutzpah to claim they were "African American" even though they were more so than he was. He knew very well what it meant. Note that I think the whole thing is dumb and shouldn't even exist. I despise Trump and hate how he is handling this but he is not all wrong.

That smarmy smile of his drives me bonkers - such a phony. The problem being that Cuomo is not exactly Mr. sincerity either. But the difference is that most Cuomo voters admit that they are not happy about it while Mamdani's supporters get so defensive and refuse to admit his limitations.[/quote]
