I note there are some "I need virtual at MY charter/OOB school!" parents who are like "it's a PANDEMIC so I should get the thing I want!" Yeah? It's a pandemic and you're terrified, but you want to hang onto your charter seat? That's your priority? Come on. The better argument is that it's a pandemic and you can't have everything you want. Might have to give up a charter seat. If you're so terrified for your child's health, that should be an easy choice.
Again you seem to misunderstand everything. Intentionally? Who cares. “I should get the thing that I want” isn’t someone asking for your kids transcripts, birthright, ability to go to school, air, a new car, or a pencil. The thing people are asking for is very specific and very reasonable. A virtual option for familes who choose or need it, without losing OOB or charter spots is ideal but I will admit that in my case it doesn’t apply. Note that homeschool does not equal virtual. I bet anything dcps folds. Unless they want a riot when all the parents have kids at home for 10 days with no teacher (because too many are quarantining) and when that first wrongful death lawsuit hits from a parent whose documented requests for a virtual option went unmet.
It's the pandemic. You have two choices. (Plus a virtual option for students who have documented needs) Sorry you can't get the exact option you want, but life isn't fair. You got what you wanted last year. I love the part where you're threatening a riot. Oh yeah, I bet all 10 ward 3 white women will be there to start a fight. Also, you have no understanding about how that liability works.
Like most in this town, I’m a lawyer. Try again if you think a lawsuit won’t be brought - and you do not know if it will advance until it’s entered. And yes, riot was metaphorical. Also, given the survey results you ro someone above cited about ward 7 and 8 having the greatest need and survey requests for remote, you really think it’s just white women? Don’t try to generalize. The women I’ve seen insisting in a return in person (think of the poor kids! Closing schools is racist!) are all using the argument to further their position without caring a whit for what the black families she’s trying to speak for, want. It’s how we liberals embarrass ourselves. Talk less. Assume less. Have some humility. And don’t make choices for others.
