I hope all of you people talking about how this is what Britney needs have been out there talking about how you think all the men who have been out of control deserved to have all their rights and autonomy stripped. Justin Beiber was pretty messed up for awhile why isn't he under lock and key? Johnny Depp has been drinking and spending his way into oblivion for a decade. Shia LaBeoef has seemed on the edge of some kind of violent nervous breakdown for his entire adult life. But we don't call them 'crazy' or strip them of their rights because they are men. So screw you guys and your serious internalized misogyny.
+1. We all know this would never happen to an extremely rich and successful man - no matter how outlandish his behavior.
Not a single one of these men endangered their kids (Johnny) or were foolish enough to have them when they were in a mentally ill space (Shia/Justin). Britney's problem, among others, was that she locked herself in a bathroom with her toddlers and forced the police to break it down. After having questionable judgement regarding the kids in the first place. She was caught driving around with them in her lap with no seatbelt multiple times (a judge ruled she couldn't have them in her car anymore) and she dropped another one while looking high on meth. Had she just had a mental breakdown with herself alone - I do not think the judge would have given Kevin Federline full custody of their shared kids and her own father full custody over herself.
I'm sorry why does having custody of your kids have ANY GD THING TO DO with whether or not she can have a cell phone or decide how to spend the money that she earned or have freedom of movement? Plenty of people do not have custody of their children and not lose control over their entire life. And to the PP saying people called those men crazy YES they called them crazy but no one stepped in and robbed them of their rights to free will. Freedom to spend the money they EARNED.
+1 Custody of the kids is a completely separate issue from conservatorship, as it should be. Should she have more custody of her kids? Probably not. Should she have access to the money she earned? Absolutely. She was a young girl who was used to make a ton of money for a ton of people. She then wasn’t allowed to live her life the way she wanted. It’s so wrong on so many levels. I’m also shocked that so many on this thread aren’t up in arms about forcing birth control on a grown woman. It’s deeply disturbing.
