I just got an email from a friend who is a Maret parent that begins, "I have been asked by Maret to write to Elissa Silverman and Mary Cheh regarding Maret’s [b]funding of major renovations [/b]and part-time use of Jelleff field."

That’s there big talking point — they assert that no one would have a field to use if they hadn’t put investment in it.

The second point is that although they signed a 10 year deal, everybody meant it to be good for 20 years.

For the first point, I’ll give them the benefit of the doubt and suppose maybe, possibly that could have been true at Year 1.  I doubt it (I mean, why would DC even bother to buy a multi-million dollar field if it couldn’t afford a little more money to make it operable?  Incompetence or corruption?).  But in any event, it is not true now. DC needs it and can afford it.
