James was Jesus half brother. The point was the May-December relationship between Mary and Joseph did happen at some point. MSNBC is claiming Mary immaculately conceived therefore some AL County GOP Chairman’s tweet was factually incorrect.

The Immaculate Conception is a theological teaching declaring Mary born free of sin - the only human to be so conceived except for Jesus, who of course was not just human but also divine.  The Feast of the Immaculate Conception (of Mary) is celebrated December 8.

Mary herself became pregnant with Jesus through the act of incarnation by the Holy Spirig, which is celebrated as the Feast of the Annunciation 9 months before Christmas on March 25.

Catholics believe that Mary remained a virgin her entire life and therefore James is not technically Jesus's brother.
