Also 99% of comments are suggesting parents play their kid on their grade in school team. https://www.facebook.com/groups/scholarshipsforsocceracademy/posts/25942942895333466/
FYI, allowing isn't forcing. Notice that the OP of the Facebook thread said their club is forcing kids to play on age and blocking playing up. Clubs around here are sticking with age, best can play up. Random hopes and dreams on a Facebook posts aren't a data point.
Nobody is going to force Aug players to play on their coreect grade in school team. They just wont make the grade below them A team. But coaches will offer a spot on the correct grade in school B team or grade down B team. We all know which one you'll choose
So August players are damned if they do and damned if they don't with no chance of making a top team in either age group in your fantasy?
The reality is if Aug birthdays are "good" they'll make their grade in school A team. The only reason an Aug birthday would be looking to play on a grade down A team is because they didnt make the grade in school A team. In this situation clubs need to step in and save kids from parents who are looking for shortcuts. Put the kid on their correct grade in school B team so if they get better making the correct grade in school A team possible.
Doesn't compute. Clubs around here announced limited playing up and won't know or care about kids grades. It's over. This grade thing was always a lost cause only alive in your head.
Exactly. My HS age August kid's current coach coaches both "A" teams they could play on. He told us directly that he's going to put them one of those two teams next year based on which one he believes is the best fit from a soccer perspective only. Role on the field is the only thing he talked about. Not age. Not grade.
Best fit from a soccer perspective will magically be the team thats your kids grade in school. Your situation is not special or novel. What the coach tells you to keep your checks flowing will be whatever keeps your checks flowing.
Amazing that you have such magical insight into a situation you don't have any knowledge of. If it happens to be their grade, great. If it happens to be their age, also fine. You're simply talking out your a** pretending to be an expert. You're not.
I've been around youth soccer for over 10 years. Yes, I'm very confident about what I've written because its all things I've experienced in the past. Clubs choose whats in their best interests Weasel parents will always be looking for a way to cheat and get their kid some kind of advantage The sky is blue and water is wet.
An upstanding parent would accept the rules and policies posted by leagues and area clubs, 8/1 - 7/31, best on a limited basis can play up. A weasel would try to invent a rule to make his Sept girl the oldest and bulldoze competition, an August girl, off her team and Gillooly style try to bully people into making bad decisions to selfishly help his girl. And complain incessantly to their club about how it should be run. And if you've only been around youth soccer for 10, you only had about 2 years of Ulittle previous SY which explains why you didn't know much of how SY used to operate.
As I've said multiple times before in SY pre 2017 I never heard of players playing down. I did hear of players playing up but I never looked at it very closely. Now I understand 100% what they/people were saying. Aug birthdays play up if they need to play on their grade in school team.
Creditable guy posted a bunch of pages back said it was about 1/20 players, about one Aug kid per team playing on age but off grade. That part has been settled. 10 years ago you would have been a parent watching 6 year olds playing 5v5 split goals no goalie. Not exactly the best vantage point to know how the whole youth soccer system, soup to nuts, operates. Leagues said 8/1-7/31, local clubs trying to limit playing up, bids already mostly out for top teams. It's over, nobody forced to play up.
You make no sense. Start over and try again.
Your lack of reading comprehension has been well established. See Norcal Mustangs post misread, etc.
Ahh, the post where the Mustangs parent said that their club is allowing players to try out with and play on their grade in school team? Yea, I didnt miss anything.
NorCal Mustangs don't care about grades.
