Any thoughts about yesterday's evening meeting at BASIS DC? I'm a new parent. Heard lots of complains from current parents. I was not expecting this. I get the feeling many parents are not happy with the school.
I was there and had the opposite reaction. It seemed that most parents were happy with the year. I will say the administration and parents were candid about areas for improvement - and I find that refreshing.
I was there also and a similar reaction to the previous poster - that most parents were happy. Will not comment on the two parents that expressed the primary concerns except to say one seemed valid to me and the other seemed like they were not happy because it was not as strict as their school in their foreign country. What concerned me the most was the "outspoken" DCPS bashing form certain parents. While I think everyone is in agreement that DCPS does not have the best options, I find it irresponsible for adults to publicly bash DCPS when children are present that either came from DCPS schools or may be returning to DCPS schools. Not everyone that may return to a DCPS school is going to do so because they could not handle the academics. To imply to children that to make a different choice is subpar by bashing the entire DCPS system is irresponsible to me. I am also concerned about the impact on those children that leave because they can not handle the "advanced" academics the rest of us are craving. I care about children, not just my own.
