I'm genuinely confused as to why she so drastically changed her type by going for someone like Travis. Why would she do that? It's true that as one PP said, he was her type all along and she was pretending to be into the edgy intellectual types, but she could have gone for someone like Travis from the beginning.
Maybe she grew up and moved away from drug addicted Peter Pans?
The doofus who shotgunned beers last summer on stage at his bachelor's degree ceremony and was kicked off his college team for drugs is so mature.
Hon, most 21-year-old men, which is how old Travis was when he had a positive drug test, aren’t that mature. How many men and women in your neighborhood who are actual adults Do you think do Gummies – you’d be surprised. If you’re gonna hate on someone, why don’t you make it legit?
I don't really know anything about Travis's college behavior but I do agree with the PP that he doesn't strike me as a particularly mature person for his age (35ish, right?). Both he and Taylor seem somewhat stunted, to be honest, with a heavy focus on appearances, partying, popularity, etc. They also seem to still be very much under the care and protection of their parents, which is a bit odd for people in their mid-30s who are financially independent and professionally successful. I get it, I'd do the same for my kids, but I'd like to think mine would push for more independence by that age. In a weird way I feel like this relationship is like a do-over for the college relationship and early marriage that of course neither of them had because they were focused on their careers at a very high level at that age. So it's like a regression, more than a sign of maturity. I don't know what that means for them or their relationship, most people aren't in this situation. It's someone who became a child star and skipped late adolescence marrying a guy who was a star athlete in tightly controlled sport environments from like age 10 until his mid 30s. Hard to compare to regular people. I guess we'll see! Based on what I know of the relationships of similar people, I would not put money on it lasting or being functional, sorry.
