The full name is the “United States agency for international Development”. The United Way has a higher level of overhead and don’t even get me started about the Red Cross. Their missions as non-profits is much different than the mission of USAID. International Development also means developing relations and joining efforts with other governments. Supporting and networking with governments who may not give access to outsiders without the offer of aid that they desperately need. If we aren’t giving it now, other less democratic nations may fill that vacuum and then take our access to places and people we need to protect our people worldwide. This agency was a target for a reason. Musk has been in direct conflict with USAID in the past and their interactions with the South African government. USAID was like the cool kids in the dorm’s lounge that had the new gaming system that the most popular kids want to play and you were wandering around trying to find a seat. He has bought the dorm, stolen the gaming system and told the cool kids to move out. Now either he or his friends can show up and remake the lounge and make friends who will hate us forever. [/quote]
