I find it very odd and suspicious that USAID is suddenly in Elon’s crosshairs like this. Did Trump or GOP ever mention this agency during the last campaign or in recent Congressional hearings, budget negotiations? It seems there must be some other underlying reason (for corrupt purposes and financial gain) that Elon is going after it so aggressively. I hope the media will start digging!
It is a slush fund for Democrats. Give money to NGOs who give to other funds, who can use the money to promote leftist causes. Their big mistake was not giving enough money to Republicans so now no one is supporting them. When the International Space Station was nearly defunded under Clinton, NASA went out and distributed the jobs around the country.
USAID was indeed a slush fund for democrats. Look at the groups to which USAID funneled money? It was not all “development work.” Much of it was purely political.
This is really not true at all, but even if it was, the proper way to change it is through the congress.
Exactly. Congress could have shut down and defunded USAID ages ago. Why didn’t anyone raise issues about this agency until Elon Musk came around and started meddling in the US government? Can you give any plausible good faith explanation for it?
We don’t know anybody did and if they were squashed. The correct thing for Elon to do here would be to put his system of validation through FISMA accreditation and then use it to identify where waste might be. The report would be accessible to Congress and mostly public. Then Congress fixes. Elon, at best, is Edward Snowden
There are procurement and vetting processes for acquiring and implementing software for the US government. Just bringing a bunch of guys to install code is not the way to do it, or at least not legally and without HUGE security implications.
