It's so sad to see that no one has finished school when they can afford any daycare or nanny to do so. Work or go to school... not that hard. Set a good example for the kids
Actually, they have. Kail finally graduated in real time, I think, or is finishing up her journalism degree. Chelsea finished technical school and worked as an esthetician (sp?) for some time. Jenelle amazingly finished some technical school training, but "can't" get a job because of her felonies. Leah was never college-bound and I'd give her a pass if she was actually at home dealing with her three kids and daughter's disability. But she did recently start real college, and she's had several (failed) MLM-home businesses. Javi's in the Air Force, Corey has steadily worked the entire time, same for Jeremy, Cole is an engineer. Jo worked during the beginning of the series, but now devotes his time to his children. Adam is a personal trainer supposedly. David doesn't work, but I think Nathan does. He sold timeshares at some point. Kieffer had a thriving marijuana pipe business. Barb still works at Walmart. Miranda was a police officer before she had her baby, and now stays home with her. I don't think just because you CAN afford daycare or a nanny that you necessarily SHOULD take advantage of that. Being a stay-at-home parent is a job, and has benefits. Now many of these SAHPs aren't doing much parenting, but that's a different story. I think it's important to consider what these women's lives would have been like without babies or MTV. Do we really think Jenelle was headed for college anyway? All the lottery winnings in the world couldn't send her to UNC for a business degree. Maybe she would have done her tech school thing, but that's a big maybe. Same with Leah--look at her family and peers. Being a young mother is not looked down on, and she could very well have lived a "complete" life, staying at home with kids and maybe a husband. Kail had zero role models, so who knows. Chelsea was probably the one with the best shot, but I think she's also used her money and fame wisely. She seems like she will be very fulfilled, and set a good example for her kids, as a loving SAHM and wife. Jo gets a lot of shit for choosing not work but honestly, I don't blame him. Being on this show may not constitute a job, but it pays good money, and they do make the sacrifice of privacy to "earn" that money. Personally, I would prefer to work a traditional job, rather than have my life broadcast on TV and analyzed by strangers. But they made different choices. Jo gets to live comfortably and be with his children the maximum amount of time. He's said that he has no plans to work because financially, he doesn't have to, and having a job would interfere with his time with Isaac. Right now, he can take Isaac at a moment's notice, and that seems to be very important to him. I applaud that. re: college for the kids, Corey has stated that they have college money set aside for all of his children, including the one he won't allow to be filmed. At the guys' retreat, Gary said he and Kristina allowed their daughter to be on the show because "it's college money," but Corey replied that that was "take care of" for his kids. As obnoxious as she is, I'm sure Kail will make sure that Isaac and Lincoln have those opportunities, and so will Aubree. Jace, etc.... well... it's probably bail money if anything.
