I think that's a massive overstatement. Disliking a particular outfit, or even someone's style in general, doesn't mean you resent them politically. Hillary Clinton dresses like shit for the most part and I voted for her.

No one said a gown was the only choice for women at formal events anywhere in this thread. In fact, Hope Hicks famously executed pants at a black tie event flawlessly:

She's also a Republican and I think she looked fabulous in pants at a black tie event. So, no, I don't just have political resentment or think women have to wear gowns.

Again, disliking one outfit doesn't mean you dislike someone's entire style. I think Melania dresses great 99.99% of the time and would put her up there as one of our more stylish first ladies, along with Jackie and Michelle. I think this was a rare miss, and barely a miss, because I like it, it just wasn't formal enough. Sparkle =/= formal in terms of dress code. [/quote]
