The scene with Carole and Adam last night was something else. They looked like a mom and son at a bad costume party. I used to think Adam was kind of cute, but I don't know anymore. And the scene where Carole tells Tinsley her non-reaction to the boat incident is due to her being in abusive relationships. Um, what? And why didn't we get more of Tinsley's reaction to that doozy of a comment.
Agree. Whenever he is on screen I kind of waffle between "looks like an actual homeless person/greenpeace protester/cute dude". Last night something about his teeth/thinness made him fit with homeless person. I also noticed something weird- Carole normally has shapeless sloppy lips, obviously- they are usually hanging around slackly unless she is smiling. For the first time ever last night, when Adam suggested they go out/catch up, she paused/froze and pressed her lips into a line. It looked like she was either repressing a desire to speak, or felt like she couldn't or shouldn't (had to choose her words carefully) or that she knew she was in trouble. It was the most curious reaction. I mean all the random arguments/Bethenny drama/political discourse on the show... I've never seen her do that to that level. She either wanted to say no, or knew she needed to say no. For all her world weary independent woman journalism narrative, she is a love chump.
Carole's face was a kinds of crazy during the whole Adam conversation. I kind of feel like part of what started the rift with B was Bethenny calling Adam out and saying what she thought about the whole situation (which she tends to do) and not keeping with the fantasy world in Carole's head about how cool she was feeling about the whole thing (meaning I think she was torn apart but didn't want to show it, and B calling a spade a spade made her very defensive).
Carole lost me in many ways this season, but the whole breakup with Adam also lost me. So you don't give a shit about Adam or the fact that you broke up with him. Why were you with the man for several years then? I don't know. Show some emotion about it. It's just weird. When things get emotional, Carole clams up and just acts stunted. Which very possibly may be a result of her husband dying and the JFK/Caroline deaths. It would be understandable. But then, maybe talk about that? I feel like Carole went on the show and thought she could just ride the wave and be the witty observer and never reveal anything true about herself, which she really managed to do. But then it just got old. It doesn't feel authentic. Either get in or get out.
Totally agree. They needed a castmate, not an observer. You're not above it all, Carole and not so piquant.
I thought she opened up a lot about the trip to London with Dorinda and picking up her late husband's ashes. I always had the impression that because of the trauma she went through with losing her husband and best friends in the way that it happened she didn't get bogged down by petty things as frequently as others.
