She showed more emotion than many criminals during the statements by Joe's parents. She's alone in a foreign country jail separated from her own mother for several years. It's possible she's started to understand what taking Joe away from his mom, forever, has done. Once you have murdered someone in cold blood, that will stain you for life. But once that murder has happened, the justice system takes over. I desperately wish the lives of these innocent people had never been lost. Sadly they were. Now the criminals are being punished, the families of the victims were able to eulogize their loved ones and receive the vindication brought by the guilty verdict. Beyond punishment and deterrence, isn't one of the goals of the justice system rehabilitation? One can only hope.
I know the mother of Joe Ryan. In no way does she able to eulogize or memorialize her son and the loss she felt. To suggest that she or anyone in his life can simply move on and have peace know nothing about the loss and horror of having your love one murdered. The justice system did not charge Juliana as they should have, which is two counts of aggravated murder in the first degree. She is responsible for two deaths in that she fully aided Brendan in killing his wife. So while Juliana gets a little time it is fa far cry from what she should have gotten. Clearly you are not aware of the pain this killer has brought on people in Joe's and Christines life. To suggest that this woman who planned, and executed the murder of a fully innocent man, and than accused him of rape and murder is beyond comprehension. She said she deserved payment from a producer because of what SHE went through while in prison. The remorse she may have pretended to have when Joe's mom read her victims statement is because it was moving even for a sociopath. The judge's points clearly state all the reasons why Juliana had the MOST brutal and heinous manslaughter case ever in her court, and that she should have a life time of reflection, and that she had not showed any remorse for her crimes or the victims through the entire process. She being Juliana is irredeemable, has not come to Jesus, and should pay for her crime for the rest of her life. Joe's family, and friends will also be paying forever. It will never go away..
