"Nov 6" means after the election. If that's the date and one side concedes, there will be interesting consequences to discuss in the Politics forum.
I very much want this thing to be over, but I think the 6th -for us to be back at work - is very optimistic. That means they would have to pass the clean CR and have Trump sign it tomorrow. I don't think Democrats are going to agree to that before they see election results. If Democrats sweep in VA and NJ tomorrow I don't see the Dems agreeing to the clean CR.
The 6th is this Thursday. The Senate has until Wednesday to pass the bill and Trump can do that Wednesday evening. This is an optimistic timeline but it is doable.
Pretty much all the polls suggest the democrats are going to sweep all of the key most -watched races in the Tuesday elections. I’m unclear how we go from that momentum to them coming into the Senate on Wednesday morning and a sufficient number promptly capitulating to voting for the same Republican sponsored bill they’ve been voting against for a month with zero modifications (which is the only way we could feasibly reopen by Thursday)
I agree. I think those bets of Nov. 16th seems fairly accurate.
