Veterans and Reserve/National Guard

Veterans: About 7.1% of recent veterans and 6.5% of long-term veterans use SNAP. Another estimate puts the 2023 national average at 8%. 
Reserve/National Guard: The highest usage rate is among Reserve and National Guard members, at approximately 9.0%. 
Total numbers: Around 213,000 Reserve or National Guard members are in SNAP households.
