Fact is, they relish monickers that paint them as powerful, even negative ones, and ‘weird’ strikes the right tone. This is not the weird of aunt Maggie who collects spoons, it’s the weird of ‘These aren’t people I’d trust my child with, why would I leave my country to them?’ It’s not quite shrugging them off, and there is no way to deny it, without coming off as … weird.  It most definitely helps that Trump and Vance are in fact, weird. [/quote]
