They were also very happy to welcome the money launderers before it presented problems for them. They were always happy to take Russian money - I was there in 2008 and talked to some locals who told me Russian language was now necessary in the service industry because of the crisis in Europe - most customers were now from Russia where the crisis was happening a bit later and with less impact.
