But as parents, our childrens' grades are our best/most/available gauge for success _in the moment_ ... . I wonder how many of the parents in these anecdotes were accepting of their children's failures at the time? I know that in my family, there was much wringing of hands and furrowing of brows, to say the least. But Now the high school drop outs are all doing very well! [/quote]
